What The Response Bench records about a visit, what it does with a message sent to the desk, and how campaign data is handled.

What a visit records

The site is served as static pages. A visit records the request the server needs in order to answer it: the address requested, the time and the response. The desk reads aggregate traffic to see which sheets are used, and uses that reading to decide which sheets to extend.

What a message records

A message sent to the bench is kept so that the desk can answer it and, when it becomes a sheet, so that the source of the question can be named. A message is not published, and the name of the person who sent it is not published.

Campaign data

A campaign record sent to the desk is read for the figures a sheet needs, and the person who sent it is asked before any part of it is published. Figures published from a campaign are published in a form that names the offer and the measures and leaves out the names and the contact details of the people who responded. Where a campaign ran under a rule that restricts what may be published about it, the sheet says so and keeps the figure to the level the rule allows.
